Day 60 - Heidelberg to Mannheim - 52 kms

With some hours to kill before the night's train to Paris we completed the full Neckar cycle route by cycling from Heidelberg to Mannheim some 20 odd kms to the Rhine mainly following good cycle paths running along or near the Neckar.

While the weather was again beautiful the cycling scenery was only just about average as it took us closer to heavily populated Mannheim. With not too much to look at (The Rhine appeared to be hidden behind a concrete jungle) it was lunch on the city green before a return journey along the opposite side of the Neckar through open fields to the old town area of Heidelberg.

Kev taking in Heidelberg

We were leaving Heidelberg at the wrong time with a festivals planned for the evening including fireworks to celebrate the French destruction of the magnificent Heidelberg castle (can't be much to celebrate in Heidelberg!)

For us it was time to move on to the French leg of our trip by taking the train to Stuttgart for what promises to be a long and arduous night!
