Only in Ireland !

Mike & Kev in Ireland !
Paddy O'Henley and Micky 'Field having completed the Irish leg of the "Tour de Pom" (thx bob)shared the following observations of their time in the Emerald Isle -

- yes it is true that it helps to be an alcoholic when touring

- road signs in some areas of Donegal were only in Gaelic with some Gaelic names bearing little resemblance to their anglicised version (what a nightmare for tourists)

- the guy who approached us in Letterkenny to ask what we were doing. In general conversation he indicated he also was pretty fit when asked whether he had been riding to keep fit he said " oh no I've been incarcerated for the past 30 months "!

- entering Dungloe the duo noticed a large contingent of locals down at the wharf. The B&B owner indicated
tthat they were there for boat racing as part of the festival but the problem was that in organising the races someone had forgotten to check the tides which at the time of the scheduled start was so far out that you could almost walk across the water!

- having to wait nearly a minute for the door to be opened when checking into the B&B in Killybegs - upon opening it was clear what the delay was as the tv was on and it showed about 2 min to go in the Irish gealic football match between Kildare and Donegal - now that would never happen
in oz!

- listening to a group perform in the
Main street of Dungloe - nothing unusual except the group and the listerners were seperated by a main road with traffic using - not a good mix when the listeners were mainly drinking alcohol

- the stunning scenery and friendly nature of the Irish locals
